Frequently asked questions
What do I do if I receive bad fruit?
We do our best to provide the highest quality produce possible. However, due to the nature of fresh produce, there are times when a box may spoil faster than expected or an issue isn’t visible from the outside.
If this happens, please email us at deer.island.farms.order@gmail.com with a photo, and we will compensate you by offering a credit toward a future order. We appreciate your feedback, as we aren’t able to cut into or thoroughly inspect every item.
What should I do if I am going to be late or miss pick-up?
Please let us know as soon as possible. If an order is not picked up, we do our best to sell the produce to avoid waste. The more notice we have on delivery day, the better our chances of doing so.
You can contact us by email or text. If you call, we may not be able to answer while making deliveries — please leave a message and we will get back to you.
What is the difference between organic and conventional?
Organic produce is grown without chemical or synthetic herbicides or pesticides. Because of this process, organic items are often more expensive and may not look as uniform.
Most produce found in typical grocery stores is conventionally grown.
Can I order less than what is advertised?
Sometimes, yes! Please email us at deer.island.farms.order@gmail.com with your request. Availability depends on the item and how busy the week is, but we’re happy to see what we can do.
What if the item I want isn’t listed?
We do our best to source a wide variety of items, but occasionally we don’t list something we don’t expect to be popular.
If there’s an item you’re looking for but don’t see on the order list, please send us an email and let us know.
How can I pay?
You may either prepay online or pay at pick-up using card, check, or cash.
